The Saudi Ministry of Transport pavilion at GITEX 2022 aimed to showcase its innovative smart gateway systems for commercial vehicles, designed to streamline road transport through advanced operational and electronic procedures. To bring this vision to life, our team developed an interactive L-shaped activation featuring a touchscreen interface that allowed visitors to explore the technology’s impact on smoother logistics and transportation efficiency. The unique display shape posed technical and design challenges, requiring meticulous content mapping to align with the structure.
The primary objectives for this activation included: Demonstrating the smart gateway system’s role in optimizing commercial vehicle operations. Creating an intuitive touchscreen interface to control the L-shaped display and engage users. Overcoming the technical constraints of the unconventional display shape while ensuring seamless content delivery.
To address these goals, our team implemented a structured workflow:
We mapped the operational and electronic procedures of the smart gateway system into digestible segments, ensuring alignment with the L-shaped display’s physical layout. Storyboarding focused on balancing technical details with user-friendly explanations.
The touchscreen interface was designed for simplicity, with clear icons and minimal text to guide users through the smart gateway’s functionalities. Interactive elements were prioritized to let visitors control animations and data visualizations on the L-shaped screen.
The irregular display shape required precise content mapping to avoid distortion. We used projection mapping and resolution testing to ensure visuals adapted flawlessly to the L-structure’s angles and dimensions.
Dynamic animations and 3D models illustrated the smart gateway’s workflow, from automated tolling to real-time traffic management, emphasizing efficiency gains for commercial transport. Outcome The activation successfully engaged GITEX 2022 attendees, offering a hands-on understanding of the Saudi Ministry of Transport’s advancements. The L-shaped display’s immersive design and intuitive controls highlighted the synergy between technology and infrastructure, aligning with the Ministry’s vision for smarter logistics.
